Please note that the Food Store will not be available for pick ups on Sunday, January 22nd, and will not be shipping or available for store pick ups February 28th through March 11th. During this time you may still place your order, and we will ship orders in the order that they were received upon our return.
Food Store Logistics
The MRR Food Store is located in Somerville, MA. If you are local, we will be happy to schedule a time for you to pick up your order. Please note that we do not have an actual storefront. We are all-volunteer, and we open our home on Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM by appointment only.
About Mainely Rat Rescue
Mainely Rat Rescue (MRR) is a 501c3 non profit organization, as of Sept 2010. MRR was founded in 2007 by four women who saw a need to save unwanted and often misunderstood, domestic pet rats. Having worked and or volunteered for animal shelters and other rescues, they had been using their available resources individually and were re-homing abandoned pocket pets. They decided to rally together, combining resources and sharing contacts, and are now the proud founders of Mainely Rat Rescue.
Mainely Rat Rescue’s mission is to rehabilitate and find homes for surrendered or abandoned domestic rats, as well as spreading awareness, education and support for this often misunderstood animal. While in foster care rats will be socialized with people and other rats, giving them the skills they need to make great companions. Proper food, housing and health care are provided to all rats until they find their forever home.
Future plans for MRR include one day expanding the rescue to include other small mammals, as well as having a shelter to house animals until they find their forever homes. We would also like to open a thrift shop to help support our rescue. Mainely Rat Rescue is an all volunteer organization and does not receive funding from the state or any government agencies. MRR relies solely on donations and the revenue generated from our online store and food store to support the animals in our care. All donations are greatly appreciated!
